No Tax Increase with RTA Next

A son rides piggy back on his father, while the mother laughs with them.

Residents of Pima County, businesses, visitors, tourists and those just passing through pay a half-cent sales tax* on retail purchases to fund the Regional Transportation Authority’s regional transportation plan, which was approved by voters in 2006.

If voters OK the proposed $2.67 billion RTA Next plan and a half-cent sales to fund it over 20 years, the new tax will simply replace the existing tax which will expire on March 31, 2026.

The average monthly cost per household (of 2.47 persons) is $24.55 based on RTA annual revenue** divided by the total number of households** in Pima County.

Your investment leads to big benefits.
The proposed 20-year plan will fund:

  • 31 new roadway (multimodal) corridors for regional mobility
  • Pavement rehabilitation on key corridors for improved safety
  • Expanded transit services for increased accessibility
  • Safety, ADA and active transportation
  • Environmental protections, such as improved air quality

*The sales tax applies to retail items, contracting, utilities, food service, and rent on personal property. Groceries, except in South Tucson, and pharmaceutical drug sales are exempt.
