RTA Next, a $2.67 billion regional transportation plan, offers a major investment to continue regional transportation improvements.

The Regional Transportation Authority, a state-established taxing subdivision within Pima County, is the largest annual funder of regional transportation projects.

The proposed RTA Next plan and a 20-year half-cent sales tax to fund it will be considered by Pima County voters next March. At more than $100 million for transportation improvements annually, that represents nearly two-thirds of all the regional funding available for our region.

The RTA has invested $1.6 billion to fund roadway improvements, transit services, safety enhancements and environmental protections from the 2006 voter-approved plan. Even with funding from the RTA half-cent sales tax to fund priority projects, the region will continue to have a long-term transportation funding gap of more than $15 billion.
