Regional Transportation Authority funding from a proposed 20-year half-cent sales tax will continue transportation improvements that reduce the amount of carbon emissions we create. More efficient roadway corridors, expanded bus services and additional biking and walking choices will help reduce vehicle emissions that contribute to air pollution. These proposed improvements are part of the RTA Next plan for voter consideration in March 2026.

Roadways – Improved roadways move traffic more quickly and efficiently and minimize vehicle idling times to reduce air pollutants coming from motor vehicles. Roadway improvements also include bike lanes and sidewalks for clean air transportation alternatives.

Bus Services – Enhanced bus services offer added accessibility options for more people to ride the bus to jobs or school, and help to reduce traffic congestion and vehicle emissions.

Other modes of transportation – The RTA’s proposed $2.67 billion transportation plan includes funding for bikeway, greenway, pathway and sidewalk expansions and improvements. These extra amenities allow more people to try new bicycling or walking options, which support cleaner air.
