Public Comment

Your input is important to us as the Regional Transportation Authority Board finalizes a new draft 20-year regional transportation plan for public review and feedback. The current 20-year RTA plan and a half-cent excise (sales) tax, which were both approved by voters in May 2006, are set to expire at the end of June 2026. The RTA anticipates a draft plan for 2026-2046 will be ready for public review this spring in advance of a future election, tentatively planned for May 2025.

The final draft will have a budget and list of projects that will be funded by the anticipated RTA tax revenues collected over the life of the plan and other non-RTA funding sources.

Once the initial draft plan is ready for public review, the RTA will conduct outreach within the RTA taxing district, within the boundaries of Pima County, and you can give us your feedback for RTA Board consideration.

Continuing our promise to you

A new 20-year regional transportation plan will infuse another $2.46 billion into transportation improvements across the region to meet the demands of our changing demographics. A voter-approved investment of flexible RTA funding will help create a safer, more reliable transportation system to improve regional mobility and accessibility, and to drive economic benefits such as business development and expansion, and new jobs.

RTA members include Pima County, the Cities of Tucson and South Tucson, the Towns of Marana, Oro Valley and Sahuarita, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, the Tohono O'odham Nation and the Arizona Department of Transportation. RTA members take the lead on scheduling, managing and building RTA plan projects throughout the region. The RTA manages the voter-approved plan and sales tax revenues and reimburses members as they complete projects.
